A.D. Athletics Update

 2/05/2018

What a week-end for LOGGER athletics.  The wrestling team stormed to its second straight District title by outscoring the rest of the schools in the District by double.  Their nearest competition, Monroe, was a distant 157 points behind the champions.  In the process the LOGGERS qualified six wrestlers to the state meet and head coach Chris Barnes was named coach of the year for a second straight year.

The boys and girls basketball teams continued their quest to the play-offs by defeating Gaston at Gaston on Saturday Feb 3rd. The girls finished their regular season with a 11-3 league record and are currently in second place.  City Christian has two games to go and own the tie breaker over the loggers.  This means on Thursday the 15th the Lady Loggers will have to travel to City Christian for a 2vs 3 game with the winner playing for the no. 1 seed to state on Sat. Feb 17th.  The loser of the 2vs 3 game will play on Saturday for the 3rd seed from the North West League to the state tournament.

The boys have two games to go both at home the week of Feb 5th through the 9th.  In all liklyhood they will finish third in the conference which will result in a play-off game at Knappa on the15th.  The same scenerio exists for the boys as for the girls.  Win on Thursday the 15th and play for the district tile Saturday the 17th at Forest Grove.  Lose and play for the 3rd seed from our league to the state tournament.

Middle school sports are going strong for girls basketball and wrestling teams.  The MS girls have won all games so far this year and the wrestling team,  although low in numbers,  is powerful in performance with several young men wrestling well.
